Why is Flaxseed Oil so good, and some other oils are not?

Flaxseed Oil is the richest source of fresh Omega3 (Alpha Linolenic Acid ALA), one of the Essential Fatty Acids, it can be produced freshly in a manner which does not change the quality of the oil.

Flaxseed Oil is good for your health and tastes good drizzled over salads or hot meals. Flaxseed Oil must not be heated so add to hot meals after serving.

Why do we need Omega 3 supplements? Because our diets contain processed foods which all have large content of Omega 6 which causes a serious deficiency in Omega 3. This imbalance creates health problems like Metabolic Syndrome. Adding Omega 3 to your diet gets this Omega3/Omega6 balance right again and provides optimal condition for good health. Simply adding 1-2 Tablespoons of Flaxseed Oil, each day, to your meals will correct this imbalance.

Taking good Flaxseed Oil regularly is known to assist general health and many health conditions, including Rheumatoid arthritis, skin and hair health, cardiovascular disease, depression, behavioral disorders, inflammatory disease, Allergies, Asthma and Autoimmune diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Type 1 Diabetes and Lupus.

A German Scientist, Dr. Budwig (Now deceased) conducted a successful Clinic treating Cancer Patients with a regime which included Flaxseed Oil. The Budwig Mix consisted of 4 Tablespoons of Quark (soft low fat cottage cheese) blended with 2 Tablespoons of best quality Flaxseed Oil and was consumed once or twice each day.

Flaxseed Oil contains ALA, which is classed as a parent oil from which the body converts EPA and DHA as it requires them. Fish Oil, although having a direct source of EPA and DHA, is rendered from offal, and must be highly refined and deodorized to make it palatable. All these processes are oxidizing and damage the oil structure. Unlike Fish Oils, Flaxseed Oil is a renewable resource, growing freshly each season, and properly processed and packed, gets to you fresh and full of goodness.

Stoney Creek Oil Products

How is Flaxseed processed to produce Oil of this required quality? It must be processed from suitable quality seed by Cold Pressing, with no heat or additives, be lightly filtered and protected from light, oxygen and heat. Stoney Creek Oil products (Stoney Creek Oils) produce premium quality Flaxseed Oils by their unique Cold Pressing process which freshly processes, Nitrogen flushes to dispel any Oxygen and packs into the final containers before any Oxidation begins. It is then refrigerated to maintain this quality.

Flaxseed Oil must be kept in a light and oxygen proof container and refrigerated in storage to prevent Oxidation and loss of quality. (Good Flaxseed Oil is good for your health but bad oil is bad for your health).

Stoney Creek Flaxseed Oils are available from most Health Food Shop refrigerators or alternatively shipped direct to you. Shipping is unrefrigerated however the containers fully protect the Oil from light and oxygen, and to be damaged by heat the consignment must exceed 40C for an extended period. This has not yet been a problem. Consignments must be refrigerated upon receival to maintain quality. Spare cans or bottles may be kept in the freezer. This extends the best by date to 5 years. A few minutes at room temperature will thaw the Oil for use.

Once opened the contents should be used in about a month. Older Flaxseed Oil is still good to take as long as it’s sweet and nutty. Oil that has developed a bad taste, which leaves an acid aftertaste on the side of the tongue, should not be taken. It can however be used on wooden tool handles.

Other Oils

Other oils good for your health include Cold Pressed, Chia Oil, Hempseed Oil, Black Seed Oil and extra Virgin Olive Oil.

There are many Seed Oils available, but unlike those listed above, can be not good or even bad for your health. Edible Oils whilst safe to use should be used for purpose and not taken for Health benefits. Some oils have a Fatty Acid profile not conducive to good health whist others, due to the Production and Refining Processed may contain Trans –Fats which are toxic and carcinogenic.

These oils are produced predominantly for cooking and processing and use solvents in the extraction process, residues of which remain. These Oils are highly refined and deodorized, and produced for industrial use only.
